Kitchen Glow-Up

So many of us have debated the time and cost investment on interior decorating when renting a property. Why would we waste time and money if this isn’t our forever home?

Luckily, these days it’s entirely possible to create a sanctuary that feels like your own and falls within a reasonable budget – in fact, it’s what we (Zephyr) mostly focus on in Dubai.

It’s well known that kitchens and bathrooms are the areas that let down most properties on the market - sometimes that’s even the case in new developments. Beige and brown tones tend to be the traditional go-to for developers in the region, yet renters’ tastes have evolved.

This rental townhouse in Dubai Hills was no exception. We set out to find the quickest budget-friendly solution to inject some life into this space – wrapping the cabinets and countertop with architectural vinyl, and covering the tiles with self-adhesive tile blocks was the plan and it didn’t disappoint.

Take a look below to see this impressive rental kitchen transformation!

The focus was to change the kitchen cabinets and surfaces to modernise the overall look, but without causing any damage to the original surfaces (and without installing an entirely new kitchen!). Architectural vinyl (wrapping) is quite literally ‘peeled’ off when you leave a property, so it was the perfect solution.

Some of the benefits of wrapping:

  • 100% Waterproof

  • All normal cleaning products can be used

  • Heat resistant up to 100 degrees

  • Average life span of material is between 3-5 years

We used a dark charcoal/navy wrap on the kitchen cupboards and contrasted this with light marble herringbone backsplash tiles and a grey vein marble for the countertops. Kitchen accessories, including counter stools from West Elm, were added to finish off the look.
